On August 23, 2008, whilst working as a freelance reporter in Somalia, Amanda Lindhout was kidnapped along with Australian photojournalist Nigel Brennan and their Somali translator and driver. Following her release in 2009, she went public about being shackled and locked in a shed, tortured and beaten by her captors for 15 months but she never talked about the alleged sexual abuse-- until now. Amanda Lindhout has reported from war zones in Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan. She now lives in Canmore, Alberta.
