The premise of this book sounded interesting--a childless ranch owner advertises for an heiress who must meet certain requirements. One of those requirements is to agree she will never marry. Of course, a certain handsome blacksmith may have something to say about that when the heroine answers the advertisement. Overall, I enjoyed the book. However, more interaction and in-depth conversations between the two leads would have enriched the story for me. I wasn't really satisfied that they understood each other at the conclusion, and some important things between them were not resolved by the end of the book. I thought the ranch owner was a well-drawn character. She is tough and focused on her ranch, yet the author gives her a hint of vulnerability as well. I enjoyed learning along with heiress-hopeful Kate what it took to run a ranch in 1895.
