The original (1971) Vanishing Point dvd , and soundtrack CD are no longer in the Hamilton Library system, ( the BlueRay is). Here is this 1996 ,watered down TV film remake . Slight differences, such as ( Viggo Mortensen) the driver Kowalski does not ingest drugs (like speed) and does not seem as reckless, and (Jason Priestley) as the radio dj is not a radical. Priestley comes off more as a patriot and has a ''Big Brother leave me alone''-kind of voice.
If you are under 30, you will enjoy this modern version more though, (the same as you probably prefer Nicolas Cage's Gone in 60 Seconds as opposed to the gritty 1974 original);
Plus it has hard rock, and not hippie or soul music in the background.
Nice to see Peta Wilson (NIKITA) as the dirtbike-riding hippie chick, and Christine Elise (Emily Valentine on Beverly Hills, 90210) as Kowalski's wife.
