First off, I attempted this book through an audiobook and it totally ruined my vision of the characters and landscapes. I had to get my hands on the physical book to get back into the world that I came to love with the first book "Wither". Although, I do have to admit it was not as good of a read as the first book.. Not terrible but not as amazing. Loved the ending, gets you very excited for the next one. I have high hopes for the third book to bring some closure to the mystery of the mansion and Vaughn to end the series with an "OMG where did that come from!" feeling.

Even though a lot of readers say this book isn't very good, and that it's slow, I actually really liked it. I'm looking forward to reading the third book. But I will say that the first is better..

First book was so much better. This one was okay. It wasn't bad but in my opinion books where people travel aren't the best. I hope the third book is better.

Yes, I agree with everyone, the first book was so much better. This one was just 'meh' (2nd books usually are for some reason), so I hope the last one answers all the questions I have. Overall, a good story though.

I didn't really like fever... it didn't capture my attention at all but the last 30 pages were good i guess... THAT was only the best part of the book

Book three is definitely poised to be stellar. Nothing was resolved in this book, but the players have been moved into position for a showdown.

I was extremely conflicted regarding the Chemical Garden's second installment, FEVER. While I loved WITHER and was enthralled by Rhine's journey and what that might entail after she left the mansion in the end of the first book, I found the events immediately following that in FEVER to be less purposeful than I was hoping for. My issues with this installment can be summed up in three main points:
1. Rhine spends at least a third of the book half-asleep or drugged. 2. Character development was rather weak. 3. Lastly, but most importantly, when I finished the novel, I felt as though I probably could have skipped the first three quarters of it and it wouldn't have made much difference to my understanding of the story. Although I admit that the second installment of the Chemical Garden series left me somewhat disgruntled and disappointed, I did still enjoy reading FEVER and fully intend to read the third book and discover how DeStefano intends to resolve Rhine's journey.
