The young man found hanging from the Ponte Sant'Angelo in Rome is only the first of several murder victims left to puzzle Police Lieutenant Allegra Damico. But she quickly spots that the bodies are left to re-stage famous paintings by Caravaggio. An investigation into a stolen work by the same painter brings reformed art thief Tom Kirk from Las Vegas to Rome. For both Allegra and Tom, the trail will lead back in time to a pact between two Mafia families.

Lots of eye rolls in this book, clichés upon clichés, Bourne it is not.

This is the 4th installment in the Tom Kirk series with all the books inspired by real events in history.
Don't be intimidated by the 400+ pages, it is a well-paced, page turner, enriched with fascinating facts. I recommend reading the series from the start with the book The Double Eagle.
