You can hardly tell one character from another. Caesar, Brutus, Pompey, Octavian - they are all much the same!

Another Terrific book by Conn Iggulden !!! Fast-paced action, interesting characters who stay true to their real life personas. It has fully researched insights into the times and the people. Very realistic war engagement scenes (yes that means some are bloody). A fantastic read for all enthusiasts of the Octavian and Mark Antony time period.

Completely historically inaccurate. It's not bad as a page-turner to pass the time, but you won't learn anything about Rome or any of the real people. Don't know why the author didn't write a novel about fictional characters if he thought the real history wasn't exciting enough.
