tumbling dice is definitely a great song: for the sound of it. if you want to understand the lyrics to it, check out Linda Ronstadt's cover version from the 70s. sweet black angel is sweet, and evocative; keith's harmonies are particularly effective. there are too many rocking songs on this to evaluate individually: I recommend listening to the whole cd package. this was a difficultly made album, there's been a book written about that process, I recommend a read of it, if you are inclined to be curious about behind the scenes stuff.

Already have the main CD but borrowed this for the bonus disc which isn't overly exciting. One of the Stones best albums otherwise....

One of the greatest, if not THE greatest, Stones records ever. My brother picked this album up when it was first released in the early 70s and we played it over and over and over again, until the grooves in the vinyl were destroyed. There are a lot of great songs on this album. Rip This Joint, Rocks Off, and Happy will rock your socks off. Tumbling Dice is one of the greatest Stones songs every recorded. If you haven't listened to this album, you haven't heard the Stones.

Am I the only one who liked Exile on Main St.? Why are there 15 copies in the KCLS and no requests for any copies? People are passing up one of the Rollilng Stones best albums. It has a cover that originally caused quite a controversy, as other albums by fhe group would likewise enrage somebody. This is a 2 CD package and it really rocks. It would be great to backup a party!

Arguably, the greatest 'Stones' album. It appears in all 24 books and "Top" lists that I have researched over the years. See my GerryD List for more great albums.

The Rolling Stones, Altamont, The Summer of 1969, Lucifer (The Light Bringer), Charles Manson, Obama and Helter Skelter, as well as Lysergic Acid Diethylamide is a root cause along with the CIA for the songs on this album.

Do some research.

This album has mythic status because of one reason: it's the first Rolling Stones' album to not have a successor that's as good, or better.

The last great Rolling Stones album and the last Rolling Stones album that doesn't have a successive album that is as good or better.
