Adventurous revisionist history, set initially in the Chinese immigrant community of California's Monterey Peninsula in 1906. When ancient inscribed jade artifacts are discovered buried near a fishing village, they suggest an Asian presence in the New World much earlier than had been believed. As the objects are en route back to China, the ship explodes and the cargo vanishes beneath the sea. A century later, two young men will attempt to salvage the treasure.
