Cute; a good introduction for young readers to Jane Austen but was only somewhat amusing to an aficionado like me.

PRO...5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing classic!, March 8, 2013
By jaden -This review is from: Pride and Prejudice (Marvel Classics) (Paperback) Amazon.com.......
Loved the illustrations of this classic novel! The accuracy is excellent! How fun that Marvel is exploring the english literature classics for new material. I'm a huge fan of Jane Austen, and this was really well-done. Very pleased with the purchase.

PRO...Review from Amazon.com
5.0 out of 5 stars From my 8 year old grand daughter, August 20, 2011 By VSK (Texas) -This review is from: Pride and Prejudice (Marvel Classics) (Paperback)
I want to write this review cause I saw that some people didn't like this version. But I loved it. I'm an eight year old girl and I've gotten up to this level of reading. I've read it twice. Now I just read my favorite parts and I like it so much that I have memorized some of the speech bubbles from it. It has wonderful illustrations that are so detailed that they seem to come to life. The cover of the book is like a magazine and it's really funny. I like Elizabeth because I feel like she's just like me and I would do the same things as her... that is, if I was older. I would recommend it for anybody. I can really feel the prejudice between the main characters and I just really love this version. I've read the children's classic of Pride and Prejudice also and listened to the unabridged audiobook by Jane Austen. And I've seen the old BBC movie and the new movie. I've also seen Bride and Prejudice. And this version remains my favorite of all of them. Thank you!

CON....Review from Amazon.com 2.0 out of 5 stars cover art is not representative, October 16, 2013
By Elliott's mom: This review is from: Pride and Prejudice (Marvel Classics) (Paperback)
I was excited to try this out and really liked the representation of Elizabeth on the cover. The art inside though is nothing like this. All five girls look overly sexualized with huge pouty lips. Worse - they are nearly indistinguishable from each other apart from hair color/style. This is including Mary Bennet...which....seems like a pretty big oversight given her plain appearance is a major part of her character. I know the story line in and out, so I was really hoping to enjoy the artistry here and was disappointed. ------------------------------------------
Above reviews pro and con.....if you are ever in doubt about a book, I find that going to Amazon.com (not .ca ) has lots of views about each book and gives you the pros and cons...which I like to know. Happy reading!

The story was written quite well. I couldn't have been more disappointed with the drawing! Definitely not drawn as Austen women!

I really enjoyed this. It was a good adaptation, and it's such a great thing to classics in a whole new medium. Marvel has a whole line of graphic novel adaptations of classics and I think that's great. There are so many people out there who are now being exposed to classic fiction who never would have read it otherwise.

This graphic novel adaptation was pretty awful. The female characters looked like they could have walked off the set of Sex in the City. Some of them seemed to have dark, possibly black, lipstick on.

This comic DOES NOT capture the comedy and tenderness in Austen's story. The characters come as largely unlikeable and unentertaining. It's seldom humorous. And the artwork is out of place and incongruous.

I also should mention that the artwork on the cover is done by a separate artist than the actual comic's illustration.

Graphic novel version of P&P. Good way to introduce younger readers to Jane's world.
