Read like a futuristic Tom Clancy with covert mission, naval battle & political conspiracies.

This is a follow on book to "Crown of Slaves" that continues the shouldering aside of the bounds of the main Honorverse story by following what had been minor characters in the main series books. Many story lines are indeed interwoven and will provide a framework for fleshing out some events only passingly mentioned in the main story.

Read after "Crown of Slaves" to make it easier to follow.
