The Sandman is the most acclaimed and award-winning comics series of the 1990s for good reason: a smart and deeply brooding epic, elegantly penned by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by a rotating cast of comics' most sought-after artists, it is a rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama, and legend are seamlessly interwoven. The saga of The Sandman encompasses a series of tales unique in graphic literature and is a story you will never forget. Ancient gods, old friends and enemies alike gather to remember and pay tribute to the fallen King of Dreams in The Wake, bringing to a close the long story of Morpheus of The Endless. In the aftermath of one of the strangest wakes ever held, echoes of Morpheus reverberate, touching a man who refuses to die, a Chinese sage lost in a desert of dreams, and an aging William Shakespeare, who must fulfill one last obligation to The Sandman in his own twilight years.

Amazing series. Sad that it had to come to an end, but it is one of the best graphic novels! Highly recommend!

Volume 10 of the collected Sandman series ends well. Neil Gaiman ties everything together nicely and it was a satisfying experience reading all ten volumes. One of the best aspects of this volume was the terrific artwork of Michael Zulli. His work is gorgeous. Reading this series has definitely been one of the most engrossing and entertaining. Highly recommended to all mature readers.

And the Angel Duma’s tear, crystalline and clear, filled the vision of each of the onlookers. Reflected in it, they saw mercy, and miracles, and the knowledge that everything that is, has a purpose, and that the purpose, somehow, included every one of them . . .

Old friend, in my mind only do I write you this letter. But it is a splendid letter, with perfect brushwork. Old hands do not shake or cramp when the letter is written on the air.
