I wish more history books were written in picture book format like this one. It makes learning history so much more fun! This story is about the Dromedary Express that was brought to North America during the Cariboo Gold Rush in Canada. Someone had the great idea that camels would be able to bring supplies to the miners. Unfortunately, as this book points out, camels were not well suited for this duty as they are used to sand not rocks and they are temperamental beasts. I have never heard of this piece of history so found it very fascinating.

The illustrations in this book are beautiful and interesting. The story is told in a concise manner so it is not overly long. I would recommend this book for all elementary age groups.
